Discovering the Cause and Effect of Life-Threatening Disease

Last year we welcomed over 200 visitors to our "Pathology Open Afternoon". This year we intend to build on the success of the event and are delighted to be able to offer the additional, unique opportunity for school parties to tour the newly constructed Centre of the Cell Science Education Pod.

In this event we aim to explain the work pathologists do, and provide careers advice.  We will concentrate on the role of pathology and pathologists in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases.
 
We also plan to demonstrate the heart, its compartments and the coronary arteries, using a real pig's heart.  Further ideas, including sections on healthy eating, are 'in progress'!
