How is the Royal College of Pathologists aiming to increase public awareness of pathology?

In 2008, 2009 and 2010 the College ran 'National Pathology Week' as part of a strategy to increase public engagement. The weeks were very successful with hundreds of events taking place across the country.
We are planning to build on this success by holding National Pathology Year in 2012. We have also recently appointed Public Engagment Regional Co-ordinators (PERCs) across the 11 College regions. The PERCS are all pathologists. Their main role will be to coordinate events across the UK by working with colleagues in pathology and in science centres and museums as well as taking part in science festivals.
