Transfusion
Blood transfusion is the pathology discipline that ensures that all transfusions are safe and that blood products are available when and where they’re needed. 8,000 bags of blood are used in the UK every day, so new donors are always welcome. Mothers and babies sometimes need blood transfusions and blood is also given to treat blood loss following trauma or an operation.
