The podcasts combine audio and images and showcase a wide range of diseases. Some examples remain common today, while others are rare including tropical diseases, congenital cardiac anomalies and specimens of original, historical surgical procedures.

The podcasts have been produced to support the teaching of trainee pathologists and medical students in the UK but are free to anyone with an interest in the study of disease.

The project is a collaboration between the Royal College of Pathologists, King’s College London and e-learning for Healthcare, an initiative of the Department of Health. Much of the material comes from a collection of nearly 8000 specimens, some dating back over three centuries, held at the Gordon Museum part of King’s College London. All of the material has been stored, catalogued and used in accordance with the UK Human Tissue Act 2004.
