On Wednesday a fascinating programme about the use of post mortems for establishing the cause of death was aired on BBC Radio 4. The incidence of post mortems undertaken is on the decline; it is argued that this is detrimental for trainees and is a wasted opportunity for gaining a better understanding of diseases.
